What started out as a shoot of my nephew, quickly turned into a group session.
Our guest bedroom doesn't get much use and the door is usually shut to keep a certain Great Dane off the bed. However, on a cold January day, I opened the door to let some heat in so we could do his 9-month portraits.
I guess we were having too much of a good time because Gracie (my Great Dane) and Winston (my sister's Boston Terrier) came bounding in to see what was going on.
They kept jumping on and off the bed. On, off, on, off, on, off. Then they would run around in circles, jump over my nephew, hit me in the face with their tails, etc.
Rather than get frustrated, I decided to give up my plans of a nephew-only shoot. I mentally switched gears and decided to shoot all three of them. I'm not sure how I did it, but I was able to get all three of them looking out the window. I think I said something along the lines of "Where's the kitty?"
While I had mentally settled on a shoot of my nephew only, the dogs clearly had other ideas and I am thankful they did.
Otherwise I wouldn't have gotten this shot which now hangs in my office as a centerpiece and makes me smile every day.
